For the Love Of Their Brother is a heart-warming documentary on the struggles and triumphs of the Siller family after the death of their brother, Stephen Siller, a New York Firefighter whose life was cut short on September 11th. Stephen Siller was on his way home to Staten Island from work when he heard the call on his scanner that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. Stephen turned his truck and drove toward the mouth of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel which was blocked by abandoned vehicles .Unable to drive anymore, Stephen donned 75 pounds of fire gear and ran the mile and a half through the Tunnel. He reached the second Tower just minutes before it collapsed. Stephen, who was orphaned at the age of ten and raised by his brothers and sisters, left behind a wife and five children. His story has become legend in the newsrooms and firehouses of New York.

Faced with the tragic and unnecessary death of the brother they loved , his six brothers and sisters were faced with a choice: let Stephen’s death ruin their own lives, or use it as a catalyst to help others and preserve his memory. They chose the latter. With no extraordinary wealth or political clout, they decided to stage an annual run for charity to commemorate Stephen’s heroism. On the last Sunday of each September for the past 3 years, they have closed down the Battery Tunnel and lower Manhattan, and tens of thousands of runners have retraced the steps of a hero. In the process, his family has raised more than a million dollars that has been distributed to charities, including funding a new wing of the New York Foundling Home and the New York Burn Center.

This documentary focuses not only on Stephen's heroic actions on September 11, but on the heroic actions of his 6 siblings in the months and years afterwards. Faced with the choice between anger and hope, despair and optimism, they have consistently chosen the heroic and more difficult choice of helping others, and have become heroic in their own right.

Hosted by award-winning actor John Turturro, this documentary is about choices, and how about the good that men do is not interred with their bones, but instead lives on forever.
